Cypress Foundation weighs in to support CHS Home Health Division

The Cypress Foundation of Clarendon Memorial recently presented Clarendon Health System’s Home Health division with 100 scales, totaling more than $1,100 for patients who need to track their weight on a regular basis. “We are trying to reduce hospitalization for patients with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure or COPD," said Clarendon Memorial Hospital Home Health Denise Melton, RN. "Our Home Health patients are given a booklet to keep track of their weights. By having the scales the patients will be able to weigh themselves every morning to see if they have gained weight. If they gain two pounds or more, they can contact our office for help.” The scales are being distributed to Home Health patients who cannot afford to buy them due to limited incomes. “When we received a request for funding to purchase these scales, our board was unanimous in awarding this grant to assist those battling these chronic diseases," said Cypress Foundation Board Chairman L. Travis McIntosh. "We have always been and will remain committed to supporting important patient health education initiatives for our citizens." "Since our inception, The Cypress Foundation has been committed to making sure Clarendon Health System has the resources needed for patient education, facility renovations and expansions, as well as other healthcare initiatives," McIntosh added. "Over the years, we have sponsored several health fairs and a mission event." “We are grateful for the continued generosity of the Cypress Foundation. In addition to this donation, they have provided great support for many years, including the purchase of two ambulances and the building of our new hospital chapel," said Clarendon Health System CEO Richard Stokes. "They are a dedicated group of leaders who know what it means to give back to this healthcare system and to this community." The Cypress Foundation was established to provide charitable support for Clarendon Health System and the many health care services, education initiatives, facility and capital expansion needs.
