The Clarendon Hall varsity baseball team upped their record to 4 and 3 on the season with an 11-6 win over conference (3-3) foe Dorchester Academy on Tuesday night. The Raiders of Dorchester Academy made a late game rally scoring 5 runs over the last 2 innings to keep the game close, but could not get any closer as the Saints defense played one of their best games so far this season. The Raiders got on the score board in the bottom of the first inning, plating one run on 3 walks with one hit as Tilton McRae came in to relieve starting pitcher Daniel Pappis for the Saints. The Saints tied the score at 1 apiece after a hit by Matthew Corbett, a Raider error and a fielders’ choice in the 3rd inning. The Saints would take the lead in the 4th inning by plating 5 runs on 4 hits, one walk and a fielders’ choice. As the Raiders made their late game rally, getting to within 3 runs, with the score at 7-4 after six innings, the Saints plated 4 more runs in the 7th inning to seal the win. McRae got the win on the mound, pitching 6 2/3 innings, allowing 5 hits with 3 walks, with 2 of those being intentional, and totaled 7 strikeouts. The offense was lead Corbett who was 4 for 5 with 1 rbi, and 2 runs scored. McRae was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored, Dustin Way was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi’s and Raj Patel was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Clarendon Hall will host The Kings Academy, out of Florence, in a non conference matchup on Thursday night in Summerton, with game time scheduled for 6 pm.
