A 25-year-old Manning man and a 21-year-old Manning man were cited about 8:16 p.m. Tuesday at J.C. Britton Park in Manning and charged with possession of marijuana. Clarendon County Sheriff's Office Capt. Sean Briley wrote in a report that he smelled a "strong odor believed to be marijuana coming from the basketball court area," while he was patrolling the area. After calling for assistance, he and other deputies approached two vehicles at the park and "noticed an odor believed to be marijuana coming from both vehicles," Briley reported. The Manning Police Department arrived to assist, Briley wrote, and law enforcement found during a search a jar containing about 15 grams of suspected marijuana in the glove box of the 25-year-old man's glove box. The 21-year-old man was driving the other vehicle and had marijuana under his seat. Brian Anthony Holmes, 25, of 214 Alfred Henry Road, Apt. 5C in Manning, and Justin Raleigh Broadway, 21, of 1095 N. Brewington Road in Manning, were issued citations for possession of marijuana. Both men and a third, a passenger in one of the vehicles were placed on trespass notice for the park. Briley said deputies will continue to patrol the area further.
