Susan Gibson Lawson, 62, wife of Daniel Lawson, died Friday, March 20, 2015 at Palmetto Richland in Columbia.

Born Dec. 11, 1952, in Summerton, she was a daughter of Mrs. Alice Nelson Gibson and the late Louis Gibson.

She attended Clarendon County public schools and was employed with the Clarendon County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, until she retired. She was a member of Greater St. Phillip RUME Church in Pinewood.

Survivors besides her mother of Summerton include three devoted daughters, Pamela Lawson-Crenshaw of Morrow, Georgia, and Khalilah Lawson and Melissa Lawson-Brailsford, both of Summerton; three sisters, Adrianne (Johnnie) Mitchell and Shirley King, both of Summerton, and Lessie (Lee Ernest) Montgomery of Greeleyville; two brothers, Louis Gibson Jr. of Sumter and Randy (Audrey) Gibson of Summerton; seven grandchildren, Tyrese "T.J.," TreQuan "Tre," Joshua "Josh," Khaliyah "LeeLee," Taraji and Gemari; five aunts; and five uncles.

Celebratory services for Susan Gibson Lawson will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Greater St. Phillip RUME Church of Pinewood, with the Rev. Powell Hampton, pastor, officiating, and Evangelist Shirley Walters, the Rev. Betty Lou Nelson and Evanelist Henrietta Ragin assisting.

Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Melissa Lawson-Brailsford, 3000 Old River Road in Summerton.

Services for Susan Gibson Lawson were entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
