City: No pets allowed at Striped Bass Festival

Manning City Council passed a resolution Monday night during its regular meeting that prohibits pets from downtown events during the upcoming Striped Bass Festival. Both Manning Mayor Julia Nelson and Manning Police Chief Blair Shaffer received complaints after last year's festivities about animals at the event, particularly on Big Saturday during the parade. "They got complaints about animals in the parade," said Administrator Scott Tanner. "Even though the pets were on leashes, they were barking and kind of intimidating for others." Tanner said service or police dogs will be allowed.
