SUMMERTON - Virginia Mae Grier Foster, 85, wife of Wesley Milton Foster, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility.

Born Sept. 10, 1929, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late William James Grier and Mamie Clements Grier. Virginia worked in the food service industry in Florence for many years and was a retired manager from the Maryland Fried Chicken restaurants.

She held dear her memories of many years as a nanny to the Bobby Jordan family and the Dick Ryan family. Virginia enjoyed her family and her church, she enjoyed Supper Club, traveling, golfing and boating with her husband Wes, and she loved to dance and sing. She loved her children and her grandchildren and she enjoyed cooking for them and she loved her little dog, Samantha. She was a lover of life and she lived it to the fullest. She was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church.

Survivors besides her husband of Summerton include a son, James Julius Hanna Jr. (Jamie) of Florence; three daughters, Shirley Mitchell (George) of Wisconsin, Vicki Broughton (Ted) of Manning and Dola Brooks (Paul) of Myrtle Beach; three sisters, Evelyn McLawhon of Wilmington, N.C., Frances Parker of Florence and Nancy Boutin of Lawrence, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial services for Virginia Mae Grier Foster will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Esta Gilley officiating.

The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service at Stephens Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Virginia Mae Grier Foster may be made to AGAPE Hospice, 5 S. Mill St., Manning, SC 29102.
