Ansley Welch pens winning Cities Mean Business entry

Laurence Manning Academy fourth-grade student Ansley Welch was one of three winners in the Cities Mean Business essay contest held this month by the City of Manning and Main Street Manning. Welch answered the prompt, "What kind of business would you own?" Her answer, about going into space, was the most unique of the bunch, according to Manning Tourism Director Carrie Trebil. She said the contest was open to all Clarendon County school children. Here is the second-grade winner. The middle-school winner will be posted later today. Here is Welch's winning entry: If I owned a Business If I owned a business I would own a base where you could train to go up into space. I would own a business on the moon. We would have everything from levitation massages to science experiments. Whenever you get to the first base robots would greet you and take your bags for you. You would not have to do anything. We would have a non-gravity room and that is where you would do some of your training. In other rooms you would test your eyesight and exercise. It would take about a week to do all the training. When you get to the moon the robots would greet you just like the first base, except they would be playing music! I would have a space shuttle that you could go and explore the moon. These two places would be absolutely fantastic. If I had a business this is what I would own.
