DORCHESTER, Mass. - Ethel Holiday Anderson, 70, wife of James Anderson, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at her home, 33 Nelson St. in Dorchester.

Born Oct. 28, 1944, in the Live Oak section of Clarendon County, "Susie," as she was affectionately known, was a daughter of the late Sept "Preacher" and Effie Cummings Holiday. She was a graduate of Manning Training School Class of 1963. She was employed with Meditech, DuPont Pharmaceutical Laboratory and Boston School Department as a bus driver. In her youth, she joined Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist. After moving to Dorchester, she joined Lilly of the Valley Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess ministry, nurses ministry, the pastor's support ministry and she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as royal matron, marshal and worthy matron.

Survivors besides her devoted and loving husband of the home include a daughter, Patricia Davis-Wigfall (Dave) of Manning; three sons, Renwick Holiday, Donta Holiday and Anthony Holiday, all of Boston; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marion Holiday of Boston and Willie Floyd Holiday (Eva) of Manning; and an aunt, Bernice C. Walters of Baltimore, Maryland.

The celebratory services for Ethel Holiday Anderson will be held noon Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist Church in Manning, with the Rev. Dr. Lucious Dixon, pastor, as eulogist, the Rev. Rufus Gaymon presiding, and the Rev. W.J. Frierson Sr., the Rev Lillian Wright and the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Richburg assisting. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson will lie in repose one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends beginning this evening at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Wigfall, Manning Lane Apartment 3, 300 South St. in Manning.

Services for Ethel Holiday Anderson have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
