Thomas Sweat Sr., widower of Annie Cecil Smith Sweat, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at the VA Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.

Born April 27, 1928, in Paxville, he was a son of the late Priestly and Pauline Way Sweat. At an early age, "Bookey" joined the U.S. Army. He worked at General Motors, until his retirement. Thomas was a hardworking man who loved and took care of his family.

Survivors include five sons, Thomas Sweat Jr., James, Jreed, William and George; two daughters, Mary Alessi and Diane; six grandchildren, Norman, Natasha, Angelica, Sharon, Brain and Tiesheka; an adopted daughter, Bonnie Rawlinson of Manning; two sisters, Lorena Greggs of New Jersey and the Rev. Cammie Green of Pinewood; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Tonette Sweat;a son, Larry Sweat; two brothers, Mindred Sr. and Clifton; and three sisters, Eron, Dorothy and Eva.

Funeral services for Thomas Sweat Sr. will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2225 Conyers Road in Paxville, with the pastor, the Rev. Clifford Gaymon, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary-Zion Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Sweat will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday, for viewing until the hour of service.
