Glellan Randolph Atkinson

TURBEVILLE - Glellan Randolph Atkinson, 92, widower of Marie Hodge Atkinson, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, after a brief illness.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late William Thomas Atkinson and Ethel Morris Atkinson. He was a retired businessman, having previously owned Atkinson's Shell Station, The Burger Hut and Chat n' Chew restaurant. He was a World War II veteran, having served in Germany. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 132, a past member of the Turbeville Ruritan Club and a member of Olive Grove Free Will Baptist Church of the Pentecostal Faith.

Funeral services for Glellan Randolph Atkinson were held Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Olive Grove Church in Turbeville.

Visitation was held prior to services.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Etheleen A. Thomas; and three brothers, Donnie H. Atkinson\, Sr., Charles E. Atkinson Sr. and Cecil Atkinson.

Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Atkinson (Al) Hall of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Rhoetta Oliva of Columbia and Lois (Ralph) Coker and Sylvia Jean (Paul) Thomas, both of Turbeville; three brothers, Billy Atkinson of Scranton, Bobby JOe (Kathryn) Atkinson of Kingstree and J.T. (Rhette) Atkinson of Barnwell; a grandson, Randolph R. (Kimberly) Hall of Pawleys Island; and two great-grandchildren, Carson Randolph Hall and Elsie Caroline Hall.
