Tony Maurice Fulton, 30, of 2130 Mallette Road in Manning, was charged about 9:25 p.m. Jan. 15 on Paxville Highway with resisting arrest, along with being served with bench warrants for Family Court and driving under the influence. According to reports, Sgt. Alexander Dukes initially responded after a call from an unidentified female saying that there was a man refusing to get out of her car. The woman told Dukes she just wanted him out of her car so “(she) could go.” The woman was allegedly Fulton’s mother, according to reports. A warrant check revealed that Fulton had bench warrants for Family Court and for driving under the influence. Dukes told Fulton to stand outside the car, and Fulton “turned and ran as I advised him twice on video and audio to stop,” Dukes reported. “The foot pursuit continued to the rear of … Bellwood, and I deployed my X26 Taser but was not close enough to strike the suspect,” Dukes reported. Fulton reportedly gave up shortly thereafter, saying he was tired and “I’m sorry I don’t know why I ran.” Chief Blair Shaffer arrived to assist, and Fulton was taken to the Clarendon County Detention Center.
