Gladys Burkholder Dennis, 87, widow of William Clay Dennis, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at her home in Columbia.
Born Feb. 25, 1927, in Farmersville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Bertha Klein Burkholder. She was married to William Clay Dennis for 61 years, until his death in 2011. She graduated from East Stroudsburg Teachers College in the late 1940s and became a public school teacher. She enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends.
Mrs. Dennis traveled the world with her husband and daughter, until her retirement to Manning.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn-Kay Mark Casto (Anna Russell) of the home; three sisters, Iris, Phyllis and Janice; and her best friend, Laura Harrington (Paul) of Manning.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Doris.
