The family of a Manning man severely injured in a motorcycle wreck Saturday afternoon is asking for prayers and support as the victim heals at the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston. Kerrie Cribb said little is known about the wreck her brother, 36-year-old Kevin Cribb, was in Saturday. "It was on Gibbons Street in Manning, and he was by himself," she said. "No one saw the accident, but people heard it and called 911." Cribb was taken to Clarendon Memorial Hospital, and was immediately flown by helicopter to MUSC. "He's in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU)," Kerrie Cribb said Monday. "He has a brain injury, and right now they're unsure how severe it is. It's too early to tell." Doctors have a drain helping with the fluid, Kerrie said. "He is on a ventilator, and is sedated," she said. "They do that, they say, to let the body relax from all the injuries. So he's not awake." Cribb, however, is responding to certain stimuli. "He's responding on his left side," Kerrie said. "The doctors say it's still too early to know the long term damage, but that his responding is a good sign." Cribb had surgery on his left knee Monday, his sister said. "That surgery went great," Kerrie said. "He stayed stable throughout. His blood pressure and heart rate were good through the surgery, and the fluid continued to drain off his brain. Doctors tell us they're very optimistic, but they're not making any guarantees, of course." Kerrie said she and her family are "positive and hopeful." "We need prayers and support and any positive thoughts we can get," she said. The family is going to set up an account in Kevin Cribb's name at NBSC in Manning today to help him with medical costs.
