A Look Back: Children's Home closes

Posted
The Freewill Baptist Home for Children in Turbeville gave shelter to children for more than six decades, before closing abruptly in March 2014. The state Free Will Baptist Association voted at its annual meeting Feb. 28 in Spartanburg to close the home after “months of prayer,” according to an announcement. The state association also commissioned a feasibility study for various possibilities of utilizing the Children’s Home property to enhance the ministries of Free Will Baptist in South Carolina. The association said at the time of its announcement earlier this year that the home had more than $200,000 in debt. The Foreston Field Trials and Auction held this year helped raise about $14,000 to go toward that debt.
