A 54-year-old Florence man pleaded guilty last week before 3rd Circuit Judge W. Jeffrey Young in Clarendon County general sessions court to the sexual battery of a 15-year-old Summerton girl more than four years ago.

Dennis Anthony Elvington of 1402 Rollins Ave. in Florence received a one-year prison sentence for a plea of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, reduced from a second-degree charge he received in August 2013.

Elvington was accused by the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office with “engaging with a sexual battery of a 15-year-old victim who was under the influence of alcohol at the time the offense occurred,” according to Elvington’s arrested warrant.

Lt. Rick Elms, then with the Sheriff’s Office, reported that Elvington gave the victim alcohol. The offense happened in Summerton in July 2010, according to warrants.
