A 25-year-old Manning man was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Dec 10 and charged with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop.
According to reports, Quinton Lauaran Dukes of 221 Packard Lane was stopped in the area of West Huggins Street and Alfred Henry Drive for driving with no headlights on. Cpl. William B. Secrist II reportedly smelled marijuana, and asked Dukes several times if he had any marijuana.
Dukes said no, and a search of the vehicle produced no marijuana. However, during a search of Dukes' person, a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana fell out of Dukes' pants leg, and the suspect allegedly attempted to step on it to cover it up.
