Officials tour Courthouse

As he gazed up at scaffolding stretching all the way to the ceiling, Ferrell Cothran offered a judgment based on years of experience. "It's the prettiest courtroom in the state," the circuit court judge said. "And I've been in all of 'em." Cothran was one of about 20 folks who toured the Clarendon County Courthouse this morning as Mashburn Construction Site Superintendent John Amick gave an update on the full scale renovation currently underway. Poor maintenance, water damage, termites, years of patchwork repairs and just plain old age took their toll on the courthouse, but Cothran was glad to see the main courtroom getting the attention it deserves. Expected to be complete next summer, the multi-million dollar project should breathe new life into the centerpiece of downtown Manning.
