Woman says ex-boyfriend assaulted her

crime-reportA Manning woman told police about 3:30 a.m. Nov. 18 that her ex-boyfriend started choking her and hitting her on the head as she was sitting in her car on the corner of West Boyce and Burgess streets in Manning. The woman said she met up with the ex-boyfriend at his request, and he then became angry and started assaulting her. She added that he threw her phone to the ground, kicked her car door and broke her car’s rear view mirrors. Police reported the woman had scratches on her arms and a cut over her lip. Man issued no trespassing notice after shoplifting Mountain Dew

crimeA 25-year-old Manning man was issued a no trespassing notice by the Manning Police Department about 11:34 a.m. Nov. 14 after allegedly stealing a 24-ounce Mountain Dew from a store in the first block of Sunset Drive in Manning. According to reports, the soda – valued at $1.69 – was reportedly in the suspect’s right pants pocket at the time police responded. Sgt. Alexander Dukes had prior dealings with the suspect, who allegedly has some problems and takes medication. A woman with him paid for the drink and he was issued the notice.

turkey bowling other aisle 6Jake Buddin was the winner of the 2nd annual Manning Times Turkey Bowl, which was held Wednesday night at the Manning IGA. He won a cart of Thanksgiving groceries and a $100 IGA gift card, presented to him by manager Ron Jennings, for his efforts.

We will be posting galleries from this year’s Turkey Bowl throughout Thanksgiving day.

Clarendon Hall players receive five invites for North-South game

clarendonhallClarendon Hall received five invitations for its football players to play in the North-South 8-Man All-Star Game, which will be held 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Orangeburg Prep.

Those selected included:

Dustin Way, senior, captain and quarterback, who lead the Saints rushing with 168 carries for 1,068 yards and 53 passing attempts for 925. Way scored 13 touchdowns and 16 two-point conversions. On defense, Way recorded 57 tackles and three interceptions. Way was also named to the SCISA 8 Man Region II All Region Team as well as being selected as the Region Offensive Player of the Year.

CMH Board gets financial report

Clarendon Memorial Hospital’s CFO John Shaughnessy gave board members a financial snapshot Tuesday evening during their regular monthly meeting.

As CMH transitions to outsourcing the business office, the number of days in accounts receivable continues to trend down, he said, noting that cash collections for November are at a “record high.”

The hospital is in compliance with the USDA’s debt service coverage ratio, he said.

“So no issues there,” he said.

Year-to-date, the hospital finished October with a $149,580 system-wide loss, which was about $58,602 worse than October 2013, but still “pretty consistent,” as the net operating revenue remains steady.… Read the rest
