$300 worth of cigarettes, cigarillos taken from Sumter Highway store

Crime-ReportsDeputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office reported this week that the Exxon station on Sumter Highway¬†had a break-in shortly after 12 a.m. Nov. 19 through its front door. According to reports, the store’s owner told deputies that cigarettes and cigarillos valued at about $300 were stolen from the store. A surveillance video showed three men entering the store and leaving in a silver or light brown four-door car.

Tractor-trailer hits old Shrimper in Alcolu

A tractor-trailer truck hit the old Shrimper in Alcolu earlier this morning. The S.C. Highway Patrol is reporting no serious injuries in the wreck, but had little information as the troopers who worked it are now off for the holiday. We will have more information when and if it becomes available.

OBITS-BACKGROUND-smallerMONCKS CORNER – Hortensia Montgomery, 55, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at her home, 119 Loblolly Drive in Moncks Corner.
Born Jan. 9, 1959, in Gable, “Teensie” was a daughter of Daniel Jackson Montgomery Jr. and Winnie Mae Quattlebaum Montgomery.
Funeral services for Hortensia Montgomery will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, at Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Turbeville. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery, with the Rev. Shelly Hickson, pastor, officiating, and Chaplin Fred Baldwin assisting.
The family received friends at the home.
These services were entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair

Vendor spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $10 per space. “I’m thankful for my mom, Willie Mae McKnight. My mom gives and does beyond for her kids, grandchildren, family and friends. Library closed for Thanksgiving through Monday
