Santee woman arrested for shoplifting

crime-reportValva Iris Kennedy of 821 Santee Road in Santee was arrested and charged with shoplifting about 6:40 p.m. Nov. 23 after allegedly taking $426 worth of merchandise from the Manning Walmart.

According to reports, an employee told police Kennedy was attempting to leave the store without showing the exit employee a receipt for the items in her cart. They followed the woman to the parking lot, and she released the cart and wouldn’t stop.

 


Wilder to meet with Clarendon 1 residents Dec. 8

OBITS-BACKGROUND-3-smallerLillie Bea Hudson Benenhaley, 79, widow of Frank Luther Benenhaley, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at her home.

Born in Sumter, “Aunt Bea” was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward “Ed” Hudson and Ersell Blackwell Hudson. She was a charter member of Green Acres Assembly of God. “Aunt Bea” was very active in the children’s ministry and served as the director of Children’s Church and as a Sunday School teacher for 38 years.

Survivors include five children, Deborah Baker (Larry), Frank Glenn Benenhaley (Susan), John Allen Benenhaley, and Jeannie Hawkins (Ronnie) all of Sumter, and Molly Powell (Ira) of … Read the rest

MT-STICKERI, Editor Robert J. Baker, have saved my Thanksgiving message for last.

I am extremely thankful for coworkers that aren’t just that. As clichéd as it sounds, we are a family. We fuss and fight and we make up. It’s a place where people see you fall and help you get back up.
