NEW ZION - Everlena Gamble Eaddy, 74, wife of John James Eaddy, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at her home, 9991 Black River Road in New Zion.
Born Nov. 18, 1939, in the Cypress Fork section of Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late James Walker Gamble and Etta Durant Gamble.
She attended Clarendon County public schools. In her youth, she joined Cypress Fork AME Church, where she sang in the Youth Choir. In later life, she joined Lodebar AME Church, where she served as a youth Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Women's Missionary.
Survivors are her husband, John James Eaddy of the home; one daughter: Dianna A. (Gary) Reynolds of Jessup, MD; five sons: John J. (Jennifer) Eaddy, Jr. of Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii, Charles E. (Valeray) Eaddy of Gable, SC, Joseph L. (Angel) Eaddy of Florence, SC, Wayne F. L. Bruneta) Eaddy of Charleston, SC and Brian B. (Aretha) Eaddy of Cypress Fork, SC; one sister: Mary E. Harris of Sumter, SC; one brother: Ernest (Irene) Gamble of Dalzell, SC; three sisters-in-law: Beryl Gamble, Mary Johnson and Lottie Eaddy; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
Celebratory services for Everlena Gamble Eaddy will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Lodebar AME Church, 10695 Black River Road, New Zion, with the Rev. Debra Bradley, pastor, presiding, the Rev. Francis Denison as eulogist and the Rev. Jerome McCray assisting.
Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery
Everlena Gamble Eaddy will lie in repose for an hour prior to services.
The family will receive friends at the home.
These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
