Antonio Travis Pittman, 24, of 115 Breedin St. in Manning, was charged 3:20 a.m. Nov. 13 with burglary

The 54-year-old owner of a home in the 300 block of South Barfield Street alerted the Manning Police Department about 2:33 a.m. Nov. 13 to a possible breaking and entering in-progress.

The victim told police that he heard a loud noise and, when he looked outside, he saw a black male wearing a grey sweatshirt, black pants and a hat. The man was allegedly using something to pry open the window the air conditioner was in. The suspect knocked the air conditioner out of the window and entered the building. As police arrived the suspect jumped out the window and ran down Packard Lane. Police had prior knowledge from an assault incident earlier in the night Nov. 12 that a suspect matching that description was staying in an abandoned house on Packard Lane.

Police were able to retrieve Pittman from the home, and reported that he was "sweating badly, out of breath and his heart was beating very fast."

"This was not normal due to the fact that it was cold and there is no power or heat in the house," according to reports. He also had grass and dirt all over his back. He was wearing the clothing that the victim described. The victim positively identified Pittman at the scene.
