A Manning man was charged Nov. 8 with several traffic violations, one a General Sessions offense, after being stopped for a simple busted taillight.

Brian Parson, 37, of 405 Major Drive in Manning, was arrested 3:02 a.m. Nov. 8 and charged with driving under suspension, second offense; driving under the influence; and liquor law violations after a traffic stop by Manning Police Department Cpl. W.B. Secrist III.

Secrist reported that Parson's Chevrolet Tahoe had no tag light as it was driving east on Boyce street. Secrist also observed the vehicle go left of center several times, as well as slow down to speeds as low as 15 mph several times, according to reports.

After stopping the vehicle, Secrist smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Parson also reportedly had glassy, blood shot eyes and slurred speech. After exiting the vehicle, Parson gave the impression that he was "very unbalanced and ... that he was going to fall down several times."

Parson allegedly told Secrist that he only drank one cup of liquor and that he had a suspended driver's license. In all three stages of the field sobriety test, Parson reportedly showed signs of impairment.

His blood alcohol concentration, according to a breathalyzer, was .14.

In addition to his charges, Parson was given a warning for driving left of center and defective equipment.
