The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch effective until 6 p.m.
Chesterfield, Lee, Sumter, Orangeburg, Calhoun Bamberg and Clarendon counties have been alerted.
There's also the likelihood of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds. Gusts could reach 28 mph and chance of precipitation is 100 percent.
