Manning Mayor Julia Nelson announced Wednesday night that the city received a letter awarding a $266,111 Community Enrichment Grant from the state's Community Development Block Grant program.
She said the money will be used to demolish 14 condemned structures in the Fleming Street neighborhood. She described the structures as dilapidated and vacant. The grant was considered through work with Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments, which held several meetings in the neighborhood along with city officials.
