James Lezime Paradis Jr., 65, beloved husband of Constance Lee Smith “Connie” Paradis, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Dec. 29, 1948, in Ft. Worth, Texas, Jim was a son of James Lezime Paradis Sr. and the late Rita Doris Long Paradis. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Desert Storm. He was an avionics technician at Kulis Air National Guard Base, he worked for Art Tec working on radar sites around Alaska and he was a station chief at Cold Bay, Alaska. He attended Summerton Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of Summerton; his father of Momouth, Maine; his parents-in-law, L.A. Smith and Eunice Richards Smith of Summerton; six daughters, Gwendolyn Lee Williams (Keith) of Palmer, Alaska, Priscilla Michelle Gause of Wasilla, Alaska, Vanessa Evelyn Paradis White (Daniel) of Arkansas, Vanessa Kimberly Gause of Summerton, Christina Margaret Paradis of Texas and Jamie Leigh Paradis of Summerton; a brother, Wayne Paradis (Casianna) of Momouth, Maine; 23 grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Garrett, McKayla, Kimber-Lee, Marissa, Toby, Tasha, Thomas, Joshua, Luke, Hope, Jackson, Anthony, Aidan, Makala, Jonah, Rosalie, Andrew, Chase, Alexander, Willow and Sean; and three great-grandchildren, Andres, Whisper and Remedy.

A funeral service for James Lezime Paradis Jr. will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Summerton Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Carlisle and the Rev. Bob Ashba officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery on McCutchen Road in the Sandy Bay Community of Williamsburg County.

Hayward McKenzie, Jeremy Green, David Grinder, Daniel White, Michael Gause, Rocky Ward and Jonah Grinder will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary of Summerton Baptist Church and at other times at the home, 1085 Atlantic Lane in Summerton.
