Born in Sumter, Betsy was a daughter of the late Walker Gaither Spencer and Ethel Meacham Spencer. Betsy’s involvement in her community and church impacted all whom were fortunate enough to be a part of her life. Upon graduation from Columbia College, she began her educational career at Mayewood School, followed by 33 years of teaching first grade at Thomas Sumter Academy. Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Rosa Watson. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Wonnetta (David) Richardson, 1275 Brailsford Lane, Summerton. Lady Saints start season with victory over Sumter Christian

Shannon Corbett led the Saints with 19 points and eight rebounds. Emily Brunson added 16 points. Holly Carlisle, Delaney Peeler and Abigail Jenkinson added seven points each, with Peeler collecting nine rebounds.

Cinderella Project underway

The Cinderella project involves gathering donations of gently worn formal gowns, shoes and accessories for socially and economically disadvantaged high school students. Students from area high schools are invited to attend a boutique to “shop” for a dress and other items at no cost. We are currently accepting donations for this year’s project and need your help! If you have items to donate, they may be dropped off at City Hall in Manning. For more information, call (803) 435-2330.

Window broken at Walker Street home

Crime-ReportsCrime-ReportsThe 58-year-old owner of a home in the 200 block of Walker Street told deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office about 9 p.m. Nov. 4 that three unknown males broke a front bedroom window of the home, causing about $65 in damages, about 8:45 p.m. that day. A witness said he saw three black juveniles running from the home and enter the woods near the end of Walker Street.

JV Saints fall to Sumter Christian

The final score was 33-26. Parth Patel led the team with 10 points. Kameron Earles added eight points, Dylan Way added five points and Robbie James collected five rebounds.

A Walk through Bethlehem
