CCFD testing engine function through water pumping

The Clarendon County Fire Department has been pumping water at various locations throughout the county to ensure that their engines function properly when there is a fire. This annual pump testing is required by the Insurance Service Office, according to Clarendon County Fire Department Capt. Michael Johnson. "ISO grades each fire department in South Carolina and provides statistical data on risk," he said. "Your local insurance agency uses this data to calculate your insurance rates. Future pump testing is planned for the Turbeville and Summerton districts." Johnson said the public should feel free to talk to firefighters for more information.
