A Manning man was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to drug distribution charges and probation violation. The Clarendon County Narcotics Task Force made four controlled cocaine purchases from John Quentin Hilton, 38, at his Mallett Road home between April 24 and June 14, 2013, Assistant Solicitor Warren Anderson told Circuit Court Judge Ferrell Cothran. Using a confidential informant, the buys were recorded on audio and video, Anderson said. Public Defender King Cutter told Cothran that Hilton is a single father of three children, dropped out of Manning High School in the 10th grade and had worked construction in Florida as well as a stint at McDonald's. One hundred and sixty dollars in controlled funds were used during the buys, Cutter said, and the tested weights of the drugs were a total of 1.5 grams of cocaine. Cothran gave Hilton credit for time served and ordered a civil judgment to recover fines and surcharges related to violating his probation.
