NEW ZION - Western Epps, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at the home of his sister, Pearlean Epps Lowery, 1162 527 Subdivision Road in New Zion.
Born Jan. 2, 1929, in Alcolu, he was a son of the late Johnny Epps and Hattie Abraham Epps. He attended Lodebar Parochial School in New Zion. He was a member of Lodebar AME Church. West was a farmer most of his adult life.
Survivors include two sisters, Pearlean Epps Lowery of New Zion and Katharine McFadden of Gable; and two brothers, Robert (Eleanor) Epps and James (Katie) Epps, both of New York.
Celebratory services for Western Epps will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Lodebar AME Church in New Zion, with the Rev. Debra Bradley, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
Mr. Epps will lie in repose for an hour prior to services.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister.
These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
