Addie Mae Hodge Rose, 88, widow of Charlie Rose, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at her home.

Born June 16, 1926, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late John and Mamie Butler Hodge. "Sweet" attended Clarendon County public schools. She was a faithful member of New Bethel MB Church, where she served on several ministries.

Survivors include her children, Joanne (Richard) Nathaniel, Louella Hannibal, Carrie Rosenburg and Clarence Rose, all of Sumter; two grandchildren raised in the home, Billy Rose of Sumter and Subrina Oliver of Austell, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; an aunt, Addie Rush; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Hodge, Louise Hodge and Carrie Hodge; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Addie Mae Hodge Rose will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Bradford Cemetery with the Rev. Willie Wright Jr., pastor, Minister Calvin Hastie, the Rev. Daniel Bennett and Pastor Linda Speed officiating.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 548 S. Main St. in Sumter.
