JAMES ISLAND - Clarendon Hall defeated James Island Christian 42-6 in a non-region game Friday night in James Island to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Saints' defense set the tone early, stopping the Lions on a 4th and three at midfield.  Three plays later, Gavin Allan scored on a 33 yard run.  Dustin Way passed to Matthew Corbett for the 2 point conversion to put the Saints up 8-0. The next two possessions for the Lions resulted in 6 total yards and two punts.  The Saints scored again on a 10 yard Allan run to go up 14-0 late in the 1st quarter. Early in the second quarter, the Lions mounted a threat, moving to the Saints 25 yard line before an Allan interception at the 15 gave the Saints the ball back.  The Saints drove the length of the field before turning the ball over on downs at the Lion nine yard line.  However, Clarendon Hall got the ball right back when Corbett recovered a Lion fumble, and three plays later Way took it in for a touchdown from the two.  Dylan Way came in at quarterback for the two point conversion attempt and passed to Lance Browder for the score to put the Saints up 22-0. James Island responded with a scoring drive of their own, converting two 4th down attempts on the drive and scoring on an 18 yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 22-6.  The Saints had another chance to score before the half with 1st & goal at the five, but a fumbled snap was recovered by the Lions leaving the score 22-6 at the half. In the third quarter, a focused, fired up Clarendon Hall team took control of the game.  On their first drive, Allan scored on a 39 yard run and Dylan Way ran for the two point conversion to put the Saints up 30-6.  The defense held the Lions to a total of 2 yards on back to back three & outs.  The offense scored again in between, this time on a Daniel Pappas 42 yard run to put the Saints up 36-6. From that point on, the Saints put in the second team, and the referees went to a running clock.  The Saints scored once more in the 4th quarter on a Mac Davis 5 yard TD run to make the final score 42-6. The Saints totaled 361 yards for the game (358 rushing) while holding the Lions to 114 total yards.  Gavin Allan rushed 11 times for 143 yards and three touchdowns.  Dustin Way rushed 14 times for 134 yards and a TD.  Daniel Pappas added 80 yards & a TD on 6 carries.  Matthew Corbett & Lance Browder each caught a pass for a two point conversion, and Mac Davis added a 5 yard TD run. Dylan Way rushed for one 2pt conversion and passed for another. On defense, the Saints were led by five players with nine tackles each: Daniel Pappas, Mac Davis, Trey Thomas, Ryan Morris, & Matthew Corbett.  Gavin Allan added 8 and Cody Armstrong 7.  Allan intercepted a pass & Corbett had a fumble recovery.  Thomas had five QB pressures and a tackle for loss.  Davis had a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss. The Saints improve to 6-1 on the season, 4-1 in the region.  The next game is at home against defending state champion WW King on Friday at 7:30 pm.
