COLUMBIA - Marie Sweat, 50, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at her home,1315 Bentley Court in Columbia.
Born May 26, 1964, in Manning, she was a daughter of Jeanette Scott Sweat and the late Ike Sweat. She was a 1985 graduate of Manning High School. She was a member of the Monarch Marching Band and part-time bus driver. She also attended Columbia Junior College. She was a member of Columbia Church of Christ in Columbia.
Survivors besides her mother include four brothers, James (Geneva), Larry, Johnnie and Ronnie Sweat, all of Manning; and seven sisters, Lillie A. Sweat, Vera (Willie) Robinson and Carolyn (Larry) Dennis, all of Sumter, Lilllie M. Sweat of Manning, and Maxine (Hector) Bush, Judy Sweat and Rhunette (Randolph) Douglas, all of Columbia.
Celebratory services for Marie Sweat will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at the Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St. in Manning, with the Rev. Terry Johnson presiding, Minister Scott Kirkpatrick officiating and Bishop Anthony Gibson and Elder Matthew Smith assisting.
The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, 1226 Travis Lane in Manning.
These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
