Clarendon County started working Monday on its seventh speculative building, holding a groundbreaking ceremony at the back of the Industrial Park on Ram Bay Road for the 50,000-square-foot building that will ultimately cost about $3.45 million to build. Development Board Executive Director John Truluck said $850,000 will come from a loan from state-owned utility Santee Cooper, while about $1.1 million of the county's existing spec building fund will be used. Participating in Monday's ceremony were Dent Adams Jr. of FTC, tan Williamson of Santee Electric; Jennifer Decesare of the state Department of Commerce; Hal Turner of Thompson Turner Construction; Mike Briggs of the Central S.C. Alliance; and Clarendon County Development Board Chairman G.G. Cutter.
