Fields of Faith on Wednesday at Manning High

Fields of Faith is a national, student-led event in which students are challenged to get up in front of their peers and community to share scripture, short messages or their testimonies. Matthew 10:32 states, “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.” This Bible verse stands as a solid foundation for this event, which will be hosted by the Manning High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ramsey Memorial Stadium. Students are hoping for more involvement not only from other schools, but also from the community. Multiple schools will be represented, including East Clarendon High School in Turbeville and Laurence Manning Academy. The event is open to the public and free of charge. “It is just very uplifting,” said Clarendon Christian Learning Center Director Kim DuRant. “It’s amazing to see young people get up and share their testimonies. It shows that the next generation and their faith are very important to this community.” Every year, Fields of Faith challenges young people to step up and share their faith. The football field provides a great place for this to happen. Speakers are seated in foldup chairs in the field, while spectators enjoy the event from the bleachers. To get everyone involved from the beginning, Fields of Faith starts with worship music. Speakers then have their turns, and each talks for about two to three minutes. Deshawn Blanding, a Manning High student who spoke at Fields of Faith last year, reflected upon his experience. “I was definitely nervous to speak, but when I got up there I realized what I was speaking about, and it was as if God calmed my nerves and helped me get His message across,” Blanding said.
