An 18-year-old Laurence Manning Academy student was killed and a 17-year-old Sumter boy was injured Saturday night in a wreck just outside of Anderson. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore told The Greenville News Sunday that John Henry Horton IV of Manning died at the scene of the wreck, which happened at U.S. 76 and Clemson Boulevard. South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Tony Keller said Horton was driving a 2003 Chevrolet pickup about 1.45 miles north of Anderson when he and a 22-year-old man driving a 1995 Buick collided. Horton's vehicle overturned, and he was partially ejected, Keller said. The 17-year-old Sumter boy was a passenger in Horton's vehicle. He was treated at AmMed in Anderson and released. Authorities told The Greenville News that the young men were driving back from the Clemson-North Carolina State football game. Shore said Horton’s father was a few cars behind when the accident happened.
