Ida Mae Cummings Walker

Ida Mae Cummings Walker, widow of John Henry Walker, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Agape Hospice House in Columbia.

Born Jan. 14, 1932, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Isaiah and Alice Thames Cummings. She was the youngest of 12 children. She attended Manning public schools, and was a loyal and longtime member of Mt. Zero Missionary Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She served there with numerous ministries. She retired from ABC Manufacturing Corporation.

She was preceded in death by a son, Specialist 4 Gregory Walker.

Survivors include her loving and devoted children, Alice (Myron) Alford, John E. Walker, Barbara (Marcus) Campbell, Melissa (Christopher) Collier and Betty (Scipio) Smalls; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Walters; and a number of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, in the chapel of Fleming and DeLaine Funeral Home in Manning.

Funeral services for Ida Mae Cummings Walker will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at Mount Zero Missionary Baptist Church, 7827 Paxville Highway in Manning, where the Rev. Dr. Lucious Dixon, pastor, will bring words of consolation. Service of committal, benediction and interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
