Oliver Servance

Oliver Servance, 100, husband of Lula Allene Robinson and widower of Gertrude Jones Servance, died on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at National Healthcare in Sumter.

Born Dec. 15, 1913, in Manning, he was a son of the late Johnny Servance. He attended Clarendon County public schools. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Manning. He was a farmer and he was also a construction worker.

Survivors include seven sons, Oliver Servance Jr., James (Mary Lue) Servance, Joseph (Margeritta) Servance and Johnny (Rosetta) Robinson, all of Manning, Isaiah (Rebecca) Servance of Sumter, and Billy Servance and Willie (Louise-Easter) Servance, both of Lancaster, Pa.; three daughters, Mamie Luckey of Charlotte, N.C., and Ella Rea Pompey and Della Mae Servance, both of Lancaster; 30 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Oliver Servance will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the Hayes F. and LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St. in Manning, with the Rev. Jack Morant officiating, assisted by the Rev. Nathan Falco. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 3495 Britton-Brogdon Road in Sumter.
