Roy Welsh, 50, husband of Helen Powell Welsh, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, after an illness.

Born in Florence County, he was a son of Mary Rogers Welsh and the late James Douglas Welsh Sr. He was owner and operator of Slocam Builders. He loved his family, racecars, baseball, softball and his beloved “Bella." He was a member of Turbeville First Baptist Church.

Survivors besides his wife of Turbeville include a daughter, Sloane Welsh of Turbeville; a son, Cam Welsh of Turbeville; a sister, Claire Traynham of Beaufort; two brothers, David B. (Suzette) Welsh of Timmonsville and John P. (Michele) Welsh of Black Mountain, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Linda Welsh (brother Jimmy Welsh) of Olanta; a special sister, Susan Anderson; a special brother, Mike Anderson of Turbeville; a special mother, Annelle Powell (special father Jimmy Powell); two nieces, Mikayla Anderson, Britni Anderson; two special nephews, Jimmy Anderson and Lee Welsh; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Roy Welsh will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at The First Baptist Church of Turbeville, with burial in the church cemetery on U.S. 301 South, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.

Visitation will be held starting at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the home of Willodene and Bernard Blackmon, “The Dog House” in Turbeville.

Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, 1203 East Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29506.

Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta is in charge of services.
