The Manning High School Monarchs were victorious 7-0 Monday night against Sumter High School at home. Sarah Farmer defeated Avery Jones of Sumter 6-1 and 7-5; Emily Richburg defeated Amily Mulholland 6-2 and 6-1. Brandi Witherspoon defeated Valencia Brown 6-2 and 7-6. Leigh Fleming defeated Shonteria Brown 6-1 and 6-4. And Bailee Garneau defeated Lindsey Smutz 6-4 and 6-2.
The team was also victorious in doubles, with Sarah Farmer and Emily Richburg defeating Avery Jones and Emily Mulholland 8-6; Caroline Hill and Ke’Aydra Mallett defeated A. O’Connor and W. Scott 6-4 and 6-1.
JV matches were won by Manning’s Sarah Darby and Synobia Miller and Katy Hilliard and Whitney Lesaine.
The team opens region play 5 p.m. today against Darlington at home.
