Clarendon County Council met early Tuesday to hold second reading on an ordinance to provide a fee-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement for an unknown entity. Council is calling the deal "Project Peak" for the time being. "We cannot divulge many details at this time," said Council Chairman Dwight Stewart. "But we are on a strict timetable and are working to get this deal for the residents of Clarendon County. We know it will be of great benefit to them." Council held first reading on the ordinance Sept. 8 during its regular meeting. They will hold third reading and a public hearing on the matter at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Clarendon School District 1 administrative office in Summerton. The deal could mean 50 jobs and a $10 million investment in the county.
