Women of Main Street: Flowers de Linda's

Posted
EDITOR'S NOTE: Linda H. Mills, owner of Flowers de Linda's, is one of nearly 100 women being honored by Main Street Manning at its annual meeting on Sept. 23. Her story, and those of others who filled out a questionnaire sent by The Manning Times for a program we are printing for that night, will be featured on manninglive.com throughout September. Select stories will appear in each week's paper in September. Clarendon County native Linda H. Mills graduated from Manning High School, and she longed to open her own flower shop while raising her children. Her dream came true in December 1986, when she took “a leap of faith and opened Flowers de Linda’s,” she said. “The first location was on Boundary Street; after 10 years, I moved to my present location in the historic Wolfe House on Keitt Street,” Mill said. “I have had wonderful help during the past 27-plus years. My sister, Mary Graham, has been with me since the beginning. There have been others – too many to mention – and I am grateful for them all.” She said the most enjoyable part of her business is “forming new relationships and keeping in touch with friends and family.” “The most challenging part of the business in making sure I understand exactly what my customers want,” she said. “Everyone has their own style, and I love it when we get it just right.” She said serving the people of Clarendon County is her “joy.” “I have grown to love and cherish them,” she said. “I thank God for the customers He has blessed me with. I can’t imagine my life without them!”
