Remembering Hugo: Jackson Farms

Posted
Johanna Jones provided this photo of her father, W.J. Jackson, showing the Jackson Farms sign and two others found near the farm's office on Home Branch Road in Manning during the clean-up process after Hurricane Hugo slammed Clarendon County. "Several months later, on a slow day, we were able to find a telephone number for the Walters in Ironton, Ohio. When I reached Mrs. Waller, I asked if they had a house in South Carolina. Her reply, 'Not anymore.' They had a house in Myrtle Beach that was totally destroyed. The two signs were attached to posts on either side of the driveway. The Faulkners and McCanns were their daughters' families. We took a photo, marked our location on a map and mailed the signs to the Walters."
