TURBEVILLE - Murduck Band, 57, companion of Betty Ann McDowell, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of Aque Bostick and the late Ethel Mae Brand Brown. He was a 1977 graduate of East Clarendon High School and a former employee of Coker Builders. He was also a self-employed carpenter.

Survivors besides his companion and father of Lake Worth, Fla., include a daughter, Seresa K. McDowell of Wisconsin; four sons, Chadrick McDowell, Jeffrey (Danielle) Reardon and Kedrick (Elaine) Brand, all of Richburg, and Trevor L. Hickson; a stepson, Clarence McDowell of North Carolina; brothers; sisters; aunts; uncles; 15 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Adrian Lamont McDowell; and a brother, Larry Brown.

Funeral services for Murduck Band were held Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Oak Grove AME Church, 1709 Burnt Branch Road in Lake City, with Pastor Troy Graham Jr. officiating. Burial followed in New McFadden Cemetery in Olanta.
