A 37-year-old Sumter woman and her 19-year-old son and daughter were arrested Aug. 19 for shoplifting at a store in the 2000 block of Paxville Highway. Arkell Shaneen Eaglin of 4575 U.S. 15 South in Sumter was charged with shoplifting, according to a report from the Manning Police Department, as were her children, Adrian Jimell Eaglin of 2925 Lens Heavins Road in Sumter, and Adrianna Jidaja Eaglin of 42 Edwards St. in Sumter. A loss prevention specialist with the store told police about 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 that Adrian Eaglin took a Survivor iPhone case valued at $35, put it in his front pocket and, while walking around the store, opened it and placed it on his phone. He then allegedly aided his sister and mother in placing several items in a buggy, which he and his mother then walked out of the store. Police then approached the pair, and Arkell Eaglin said they were going back in to pay for the items. Adrianna Eaglin walked out of the store with an empty pocketbook and no items on her, but she had already been observed putting stolen items in the buggy. The three were transported to the Clarendon County Detention Center. Bond information was not available from the Clarendon Public Court Index. Items allegedly stolen were altogether valued at $471.
