A 40-year-old Manning man stabbed in the face last week after allegedly attacking a 44-year-old man now faces new charges stemming from a separate incident. Eric Keith Stephens - whose address has been given as 2426 Home Branch Road and 4191 N. Brewington Road - already faced charges of second-degree assault and battery and unlawful neglect of a child related to an incident that happened Aug. 21 where he allegedly attacked a man early that morning while the man was trying to get to work. Now, he faces one count each of kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree assault and battery after being linked to a separate incident. According to warrants on file with the Clarendon County Clerk of Court, deputies responded about 10:40 a.m. Aug. 21 to Clarendon Memorial Hospital and met with a female victim. The woman said she went to a motel in the 1000 block of Crossroads Church Road in Manning on Aug. 20, where the suspect allegedly physically and sexually assaulted her. The woman alleged that Stephens would not let her leave the room until the next morning. Stephens was denied bond Saturday on the charges stemming from the alleged assault of the 44-year-old man. He was denied bond Wednesday on the new charges. Reports do not indicate how deputies connected Stephens to the alleged sexual assault and kidnapping. Stephen is also facing a charge of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature from earlier this year. He received a $5,000 bond in Clarendon County Magistrate’s Court on May 1 after his arrest on that charge a day earlier.
