Manning woman charged with food stamp fraud

A Manning woman was charged Aug. 6 by the state Department of Social Services with fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps of an amount of $5,000 or more. Allisia Robinson, 39, of 1094 W.E. Road in Manning, was granted a $2,500 surety bond the day of her arrest at the Clarendon County Detention Center. A warrant obtained from the Clarendon County Clerk of Court's Office alleges that Robinson "failed to report, as requested, child support payments" from three separate men, all of whom were verified by Family Court. The warrant alleges Robinson received a total of $13,861 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food stamp benefits between Jan. 1, 2005, and Sept. 3, 2009, based on information she supplied on "four applications and seven recertification forms." The warrant itself was filed Oct. 10, 2013. The Department of Social Services would not comment on the matter, nor why it took so long for a warrant to be served. Robinson faces up to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
