Scott's Branch's Wayne Farmer era begins tonight

Scott’s Branch High School will usher in the Wayne Farmer era by travelling to Lake View today for a non-region game against the Wild Gators. Wayne Farmer begins his first year as the head football coach at Scott’s Branch after a two-decade career coaching high schools in South Carolina. The Eagles have won only two games the past two years and have gone through four coaches since 2011. However, just prior to that, the Eagles were a Class A powerhouse, winning state championships in 2008 and 2010. The Lake View Wild Gators have won nine state championships throughout the school’s existence. In 2013, the Wild Gators finished one game below .500 for the first time in two decades despite making a playoff run to the lower state finals. The Wild Gators return senior running back Christian McDanniel who rushed for over 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2013. Weston Rogers returns as the teams quarterback and will be looking to hook up with senior receiver Reco Brown who had 200 yards receiving a year ago. The Wild Gators are looking to shore up a defense that gave up 28 points a game last year in the school’s down year. Farmer has installed his Wing-T offense at Scott’s Branch in hopes of controlling the time of possession and methodically moving the chains down the field. Scott’s Branch is looking to replace the electric Traviant Riley at quarterback with his wide receiver senior Shimari Junious. Junious, the cousin of South Carolina tight end and former Eagle standout Jerrell Adams, is tasked with making the correct reads on the defensive line and deciding who to give the ball too. Fellow senior Trent Lincoln will be the fullback, while sophomores Marqus House and Kevin Johnson will be the wing backs. Seniors Meer Simon amd Alonza Bennett III and junior Shykeem Bozier will be on the defensive line for Scott’s Branch. Freshman Marquise Thomas and sophomore JaQuan Dingle will be the linebackers, while Junious, Johnson and Lincoln fall behind as the safeties.
