Ora Lee Jones Griffith, 92, widow of John W. Griffith, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at National Healthcare Center in Sumter.
Born in Sumter, "Jack," as she was affectionately known, was a daughter of the late Lonnie Verdell Jones and Earline Brown Jones. She was a lifelong member of Concord Presbyterian Church. She was a retired manager of Sunbeam Bakeries.
Surviving are one son, James W. (Buddy) Griffith and wife Sally of Sumter; one daughter, Brenda Iris Garcia and husband David of Antioch, CA; one brother, Malcolm Jones of Sumter; three sisters, Dorine Warth of Summerton, Jessie Mae Tuten of Hampton, and Aggie Mills and husband Felton of Burlington, NC; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, Patsy Dority, Jonice Powell, Danni Alderman; two sisters, Lois Logan, Janice Pendegraph; three brothers, Aubrey Jones, John Jones, and Verdell Jones.
Funeral services for Ora Lee Jones Griffith were held Thursday at Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Al Sims officiating.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Griffith, Jacob Tedder, Jimmy Miles, Andrew Miles, Chris Dority, Whitt Dority, and Bobby Griffith.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mayes DuBose and the National Healthcare Staff for the excellent care and love they gave Jack for these last 7 years.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
