A man charged in April by the S.C. Highway Patrol with trafficking and manufacturing methamphetamine has pleaded guilty to a lesser offense in Clarendon County general sessions court. Mark William Bybee of 7265 Morgan Road in Cleveland, Ohio, was sentenced to five years, suspended to 114 days' time served and 20 months of probation after pleading guilty Monday before Circuit Court Judge G. Edward Welmaker to disposal of or assisting in the disposal of methamphetamine waste, first offense. He was arrested by Trooper J.P. DuBose April 12 and charged with trafficking meth in the amount of 28 grams or more; driving under the influence; driving without a license; littering; disposal of meth waste; and manufacturing of meth, first offense. Though he was granted a nearly $9,000 surety bond for the combined charges, he could not make bail. He was represented by Public Defender King Cutter, while 3rd Circuit Assistant Solicitor Christopher DuRant handled the state's case.
